Gobelet litron et sa soucoupe en porcelaine dure de Sèvres du XVIIIème siècle, daté 1777,
de la troisième grandeur à décor polychrome sur le gobelet de deux enfants chinois, l’un tenant un parasol au-dessus de l’autre enfant assis et au centre de la soucoupe d’un arc, carquois et bouclier sur une terrasse fleurie, dans des réserves sur fond caillouté en or incluant des oiseaux et monstres fantastiques.
Marquée en jaune : LL entrelacés et couronnés, lettre-date Z, marque AS du peintre Asselin et sous la lettre-date marque A, peut-être pour Armand Jeune.

Un petit éclat au revers de la soucoupe

A Sèvres porcelain gobelet litron and its saucer, 18th century, dated 1777
of the third size, the gobelet with two Chinese children, one of them holding an umbrella above the other, and a bow, a quiver and a shield, on a flowery base, on a rocky background with birds and fantastic beasts, marked in yellow with the interlaced and crowned letters LL , the letter Z, the mark of the painter Asselin AS and the letter A, maybe for Armand Jeune ; (a small chip at the back of the saucer)

CATALOGUE NOTE

Geoffrey de Bellaigue detailed how the pattern of fantasy animals on a gilt pebbled ground, notably on the 1780 Sèvres porcelain military vase from the former Yussupov collection and kept in the Hermitage Museum, was designed by Pierre-Louis-Philippe Armand the Younger. This same pattern, also associated with two Chinese children painted by Charles-Eloi Asselin, is present on a litron cup of the third sizing dated 1775 from the collections of the Fitzwilliam Museum of Cambridge (inv no. C.3-2006, for a detailed research of this pattern see Sir Geoffrey de Bellaigue, French Porcelain in the Collection of Her Majesty the Queen, vol II, 2009, no. 223, pp. 843-845.)
